By the time he realizes his mistake, however, it’s too late. His clan is nearly destroyed by the Campbells for harboring her kinsmen, he is outlawed, and the woman he loves has been brutalized. With time running out, and the king’s men closing in, Niall will do whatever he must to earn Annie’s forgiveness—even if it means teaching the stubborn lass to defend herself. "Highland Crossfire by Monica McCarty
This author’s talent of writing is absolutely amazing! Anne and Niall’s story is a beautifully written story that is exciting, adventurous, emotional, and also extremely tragic. Well defined characters were compelling and showed great strength and resilience through their journey of unspeakable violence, angst, and loss due to warring clans.
The emotional plot and storyline kept me rooted until the last page. The Romance ranged from sweet and patient to steaming hot flames (4 flame) that will leave a blush.
Reading this book is bittersweet because it’s been many years since these books were written and sadly this it is the last book in the Campbell Trilogy!
I highly recommend this novella!"

Highland Crossfire A Campbell Trilogy Novella Monica McCarty 9780991210497 Books Reviews
- I love her characters. I really love Monica writing this genre. of course the story is too short because we didn't want it to end yet. I need to go back and read previous books now. I miss those people!
Niall loves Annie but not enough to marry her. His immaturity will hurt him the most. Annie must deal with the horror of what happened. And she gets support from an unexpected source.
I hope she is not done with the characters in these books. There is so much more going on. I hated to see the book end. - Highland Crossfire by Monica McCarty

I highly recommend this novella! - She is back with her historical romance and as always she does an amazing job. I really wish she would write more historical romance she is so very good at. This was a beautiful and sensitive book and all the characters in it brought back nostalgic memories to other books in this series. Worth a buy after long time.
- I am a huge fan of Monica McCarty and have read her Highland Guard series again and again. It pains me to give a less than stellar review, but this novella did nothing for me. The characters were stock, and the action pretty predictable. Unless you have a huge connection to the original series this is a miss.
- As always from McCarty, the best. Loved these characters and the plot of this book. Can't wait to read the next book.
- I enjoy reading the Highland stories by Monica McCarty!
This story is about Annie MacGregor and Niall Lamont,. She has loved Niall since she was around ten years old. Two years have passed and events started happened. I would recommend this book to read! - I am disappointed in this book because I expected Annie's story to be more involved with telling about her childhood and up through to what happened, how she did dealt with it. How she came to know Lizzie, Jaimie, and Catrinia. How she did fall n'love.
- I loved this book. As with all of Monica's books, I couldn't put it down. My only complaint is that it was too short. I wish we could have more books from this genre from Ms. McCarty! I have read everyone of her historical series, many times! I have them in my original paperback, as well as on my kindle fire!
